Custom Hunting Knives - The Mark Of A Hunter

If you are an experienced hunter you will be aware for the need to always be prepared. Before you set out on a hunting expedition you must ensure that you have prepared all of the right equipment and one essential piece of equipment is a quality hunting knife! While there are a lot of standard knives that a hunter can choose from, there is nothing quite like defining ones identity when you are out with your buddies and one way to set yourself apart from your mates is to choose custom hunting knives, instead of the stock hunting knives that are so common.

When setting out on a hunt, you must firstly think about the size of game that you enjoy hunting the most. Are you mostly into small game hunting such as rabbits and birds, or do you prefer larger offerings such as bear or deer? If hunting is simply a sport to you and you are mostly after a nice trophy, then you'll want a hunting knife that suits this type of game. On the other hand if you are hunting for food that you can offer to your family and eat for yourself, then you'll want a knife that is capable of cutting through skin effectively. If you do not care what you hunt, however, then you'll require a knife that is versatile enough to fill both roles.

The three different types of hunting blades are fixed blades, folding blades and replaceable blades. The fixed variety are used in knives that do not feature any moving parts. This is the best quality knife you can purchase, however it requires a matching sheath while you're carrying it. Folding knives are ones that can fit into your pocket, backpack or can be stored in just about any way you please. Replaceable blade knives are the most versatile type of hunting knife. Hunters are able to change the blade with relative ease and so can set up their knife according to the particular size of the game they are hunting for.

Custom hunting knives tend to be fixed blade knives and so are suitable for a certain type of game. If you are a serious hunter you might prefer to own a range of different knives for different types of game, but if you are a part timer, or want something cheaper, then a standard folding or replaceable knife might be a better choice.
